    National Equine News : Two more horse deaths attributed to EEE - Jacksonville, N.C.

    BEAUFORT — Two more horses have died in Carteret County due to infections of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), according to the county health department.

    The county has now seen three equine deaths from EEE since October. All three animals were located in the Newport area.

    AP: CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Bureau of Land Management approved the removal of 2,500 wild horses from the range near Reno on Monday as opposition grows to what would be one of the largest mustang roundups in Nevada in recent years.

    A federal judge in Washington, D.C., is to hear arguments Wednesday in a lawsuit filed to block the roundup planned for later this month.

    National Equine News : Officials say 45 horses died in Ohio barn fire

    LEBANON, Ohio (AP) -Authorities now say two miniature horses have died in a fire that consumed a southwestern Ohio raceway barn over the weekend, bringing to 45 the number of horses killed along with two men.

    The blaze early Saturday at Lebanon Raceway is still under investigation. Authorities have ruled out arson, but they said Tuesday it could be weeks before they complete their investigation into the cause.
